Welcome to ITS
ITS stand for Integrated Testing System and is an effort to create a better Test Case Management, Test Execution, and Test Automation Framework.
The effort is started because of the sad situation regarding the software test management tools. There are bad and expensive proprietary tools and some free tools, which are even worse than the propriatory tools.
Since ITS can be installed as a VMware appliance it is possible for software testing companies to offer ITS as a hosted application, like Google Mail, oder Google Docs. And it enables software development companies to use professional software management without installing and maintaining ITS by using an already existing ITS installation.
How to Join
Discussuions about ITS and ITS Development is done on a mailinglist. To subscribe to the mailinglist, visit http://www.lausch.at/mailman/listinfo/its. There is a DeveloperSection in this wiki, where you can read about used software and the development rules in general.
Technical Components
The archtitecture of ITS uses SOA principles when useful. We hope that the separation into more than one technical component accelerates development. Debuggging will be easier and deployment of single components as well as substituting an Eclipse plugin for a web interface will be possible. The SOA protocoll of choice is XML-RPC. For an entertaining justification of this decision see http://wanderingbarque.com/nonintersecting/2006/11/15/the-s-stands-for-simple/
ITS is implemented by two servers. One server is responsible for test case management, test reporting and statistics. The other server implements test execution and
